We Demand Lower Cost of Living and Higher Wages
WHEREAS: North Dakota’s working families are feeling the economic impact of inflation, being forced to make difficult financial choices, as soaring prices outpaced wage growth in 2026; and
WHEREAS: Many North Dakota workers are struggling to afford the basics, such as housing, utilities, food, health care, and transportation; and
WHEREAS: These increasing costs are a direct result of this administration's disastrous trade policies, the war in Iran, a lack of public investment in housing, and unchecked corporate greed; and
WHEREAS: The administration is working to dismantle our social safety net through privatization, outsourcing, defunding, and understaffing; and
WHEREAS: The combination of increasing economic costs, stagnating wages, and decreasing social benefits will cause more working people to fall into poverty; and therefore be it
RESOLVED: The North Dakota AFL-CIO will call on our elected leaders to address the increasing cost of living and to protect and enhance our social safety net programs such as SNAP, WIC, Childcare Development Funds, Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security, and be it further
RESOLVED: The North Dakota AFL-CIO and our unions will continue our timeless fight for higher wages for all workers.
