We Stand in Solidarity with the Minnesota Labor Movement

WHEREAS: The Minnesota AFL-CIO, central labor bodies, affiliated unions, rank-and-file union members, and workers all across Minnesota played key roles in the coalition of Minnesotans defending their communities and workplaces through solidarity and organizing, eventually ending the deadly and illegal “Operation Metro Surge” of immigration agents in their state; and 

WHEREAS: The Minnesota labor movement and their allies stood up against immeasurable odds to defend the constitutional rights of themselves and their neighbors; and 

WHEREAS: The Minnesota labor movement and their allies have endured immense pain and hardship in this struggle, especially the brutal murder of Renee Good and union member Alex Pretti at the hands of immigration agents in broad daylight on the streets of Minneapolis; and 

WHEREAS: In the face of these steep challenges, the Minnesota labor movement has helped develop and share effective and lawful strategies and tactics, in the streets and in the courtroom, to defend their rights and freedoms; and 

WHEREAS: The Minnesota AFL-CIO, central labor bodies, affiliated unions, rank-and-file union members, and workers all across Minnesota are facing repercussions for defending their constitutional rights including: stalking and intimidation by federal agents, serious legal threats and charges, as well as unknown levels of communication surveillance; and 

WHEREAS: The Trump Justice Department has recently indicted 15 Minnesotans, regular working people including union members, for their actions protecting their community during “Operation Metro Surge;” and therefore be it 

RESOLVED: The North Dakota AFL-CIO sends our deepest respect, solidarity, and appreciation for the powerful struggle that the Minnesota AFL-CIO, central labor bodies, local unions, rank-and-file union members, and their allies waged and acknowledges the hardship and trauma they have all endured this year; and be it further 

RESOLVED: The North Dakota AFL-CIO stands in solidarity with the 15 Minnesota workers facing federal charges, and demands that the Trump Department of Justice drop all charges; and be it further 

RESOLVED: The North Dakota AFL-CIO demands justice for the murders of Renee Good and Alex Pretti; and be it further 

RESOLVED: The North Dakota AFL-CIO demands the end to the federal government's so-called “enhanced enforcement” immigration campaign and an end to the targeting of working people for defending their constitutional rights.
