North Dakota AFL-CIO Statement on Minneapolis ICE Shooting of Renee Nicole Good
North Dakota’s labor movement is outraged by the killing of Renee Nicole Good by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent in Minneapolis on Wednesday. Our hearts are with Good’s family and loved ones, especially her children, during this devastating time. We stand in solidarity with our neighbors and union family in Minnesota as they work to protect their community from these reckless attacks.
The Trump administration’s ICE activity is trampling on our most fundamental rights and freedoms: to live, work and raise our families without the threat of violence from our government; to safety and dignity on the job; and to return home to our families at the end of the day. This is not about safety, but about creating fear and consolidating power.
In the labor movement, we know that an injury to one is an injury to all, and we stand with our neighbors, co-workers and community members who are showing up every day to look out for one another and to protect our immigrant neighbors from intimidation and abuse.
This administrations harmful, violent actions must end. We demand that ICE immediately stop these dangerous operations and leave our communities before even more innocent people are hurt or killed.
