North Dakota AFL-CIO Raises Funds for Food Bank
During the 58th Annual North Dakota AFL-CIO Convention in Bismarck, ND the North Dakota AFL-CIO held a silent auction for convention delegates that raised nearly one-thousand dollars to help feed the hungry working families in North Dakota.
North Dakota AFL-CIO President Waylon Hedegaard hand-delivered the donation of nine-hundred and ten dollars to the Great Plains Food Bank headquarters on June 29th and received a tour of the facilities from Great Plains Food Bank Communications Director Jared Slinde. Slinde estimates the donation supply approximately 2,730 meals to help our hungry neighbors.
“The Great Plains Food Bank is an incredibly important asset to our state and we appreciate the impressive operation in place to help alleviate food insecurity in our state. No one should ever have to go hungry in our society. We will continue to do what we can to support their incredibly important mission,” North Dakota AFL-CIO President Waylon Hedegaard said.

“We want to give a special ‘thank you’ to all the affiliate unions that generously donated items to the silent auction. In addition, a special thanks goes out to our all-star not-so-silent auctioneer, Grand Forks letter carrier Ralph Honda for his herculean efforts to make sure the silent auction was a resounding success,” North Dakota AFL-CIO President Waylon Hedegaard said.
