North Dakota AFL-CIO United for Paid Family Leave
WHEREAS, Paid Family Leave is a common sense proposal that would allow an employee to
request paid leave to care for themselves or a family member when medical emergencies arise;
and
WHEREAS, Paid Family Leave is beneficial for employers and employees alike – by reducing
turnover, lowering training costs, improving morale, and attracting workers; and
WHEREAS, Too many North Dakota workers must make a choice between taking care of loved
ones and going to work to avoid financial ruin and poverty; therefore be it
RESOLVED, The North Dakota AFL-CIO will fully support local, state and federal policies that
promote access to Paid Family Leave; and, be it further
RESOLVED, The North Dakota AFL-CIO will work to educate our members and the wider public
on the importance of Paid Family Leave Policies; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That the North Dakota AFL-CIO will work with labor councils, local unions,
community allies and the lawmakers to ensure all workers in North Dakota have access to Paid
Family Leave through public policy.
