North Dakota AFL-CIO Convention Endorses U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp
State Federation of North Dakota labor unions gathers for 59th Annual Convention to
vote on political endorsements
FARGO, ND – The North Dakota AFL-CIO held its 59th annual convention on May 17th and 18th in Fargo. Over 80 delegates from labor unions around the state voted to endorse candidates in the upcoming election, including U.S. Senate and U.S. House, as well as many statewide and state legislative races. Senator Heitkamp addressed the convention delegates Friday morning at 8:30am.
Convention delegates, comprised of over 25 national and international unions representing over 17,000 union members in North Dakota, voted to endorse Senator Heitkamp in the upcoming election as the choice for working people in North Dakota.
“The North Dakota AFL-CIO enthusiastically endorsed Senator Heidi Heitkamp today,” said Waylon Hedegaard, North Dakota AFL-CIO President, Secretary-Treasurer.
“We are proud to support a great slate of candidates that understand and whole-heartedly support our union values. We are going to work as hard as we possibly can to educate all our union households in North Dakota on the importance of this election and supporting labor-endorsed candidates this fall,” Hedegaard said.
Also endorsed were Mac Schneider for U.S. House, Josh Boschee for North Dakota Secretary of State, Kylie Oversen for Tax Commissioner, Jim Dotzenrod for North Dakota Agriculture Commissioner, David Thompson for North Dakota Attorney General and a slate of candidates for the North Dakota Legislature.
